DAY ONE

Arrival in Tanzania – Kilimanjaro International Airport

Your Tanzania adventure begins the moment you land. Meet and greet on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your Wildflip Safaris driver will be waiting to transfer you to Kahawa House for a hot lunch (depending on your arrival time). The warmth of Arusha — the gateway to Africa's greatest wildlife regions — envelops you immediately.

After lunch, take the opportunity to stroll through the city for a short time, absorbing the vibrant sounds, smells, and energy of this East African hub. As the evening settles, return to the hotel for a delicious dinner and a restful overnight, knowing that tomorrow the wild awaits.

DAY TWO

Arusha → Tarangire National Park – The Kingdom of Elephants

After breakfast, we depart for Tarangire National Park for a full morning game drive. The park runs along the line of the Tarangire River across the Great Rift Valley floor, its natural vegetation consisting of magnificent acacia woodland and towering giant African baobab trees, with vast swamp areas stretching across the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wildlife — drawing animals from across the region, especially during Tanzania's dry season.

Tarangire is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in all of Africa. The park is also home to three rare species — the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and the Ashy Starling — making it a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. Elephants here are utterly relaxed around vehicles, often approaching quite close with natural curiosity. As day turns to evening, you settle into your lodge with the calls of the bush as your soundtrack.

DAY THREE

Tarangire → Karatu – Deep in Elephant Country

Another extraordinary day in one of Tanzania's most rewarding parks. The Tarangire River — during the dry season the only reliable water source for many kilometres — draws spectacular concentrations of wildlife. Giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and buffalo come to drink, and these gatherings in turn attract the park's impressive population of lions. The river becomes the stage for some of Africa's most thrilling wildlife theatre.

Tarangire hosts the largest elephant population in Northern Tanzania for much of the year, particularly between June and October and again December to March. These magnificent animals are completely at ease around safari vehicles, often approaching within a few metres — a thrilling, safe, and deeply moving encounter. After a wonderful morning drive, we check out of the park and head to Ngorongoro Farmhouse in the fertile Karatu highlands, where a delicious dinner and peaceful overnight await.

DAY FOUR

Ngorongoro Crater – The Eighth Wonder of Africa

Today the safari adventure turns south into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area — a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was once considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We descend 600 metres into this magnificent, ancient caldera for a full-day game drive through one of the most densely populated wildlife areas on the planet.

The Ngorongoro Crater supports an estimated 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania's last remaining black rhino. Supported by a year-round water supply and rich volcanic soils, the crater sustains extraordinary variety: vast wildebeest herds, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant elephants — alongside a dense population of predators including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard. A picnic lunch on the crater floor is an experience that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else on earth.

DAY FIVE

Ndutu – The Great Migration Calving Grounds

Stunned by the previous day's extraordinary encounters in Ngorongoro Crater, today you are granted another chance to witness one of nature's most breathtaking spectacles. The Ndutu region straddles both the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area — a uniquely positioned wilderness where the drama of the Great Migration unfolds in its most raw and intimate form.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before departing for full-day game drives around 9:00 AM with a packed lunch, returning to camp late afternoon around 6:00 PM. Between December and April, the fertile Ndutu plains transform into vast calving grounds — an explosion of new life that draws an extraordinary concentration of predators. Cheetah, wild dog, lion, and hyena descend on the vulnerable newborns in a sequence of action that rivals any wildlife documentary. This is Africa at its most elemental, most beautiful, and most honest.

DAY SIX

Ndutu → Central Serengeti – Into the Heart of the Wild

After breakfast, we head north into the legendary heart of the Serengeti National Park, enjoying game drives along the way with a picnic lunch taken out in the vast wilderness. The Central Serengeti — centred around the Seronera Valley — is world-renowned for its extraordinary wildlife density and the dramatic kopjes: ancient volcanic rocky outcrops that rise from the golden grasslands like natural fortresses, providing shelter and vantage points for a remarkable variety of animals.

From the hippo pool — where these magnificent animals laze alongside crocodiles in cool murky water — to sweeping plains alive with zebra, wildebeest, elephant, giraffe, and buffalo, the Central Serengeti delivers an unmatched breadth of safari experiences. Your expert guide will position the vehicle to maximise encounters with big cats; the Seronera area is one of Africa's most reliable locations for spotting leopard, cheetah, and lion. A truly unforgettable day in one of the world's most iconic wilderness landscapes.

Seronera → Arusha → Kilimanjaro Airport – Farewell to the Wild

After a final breakfast in the Serengeti — with the dawn chorus of the bush providing an unforgettable soundtrack — enjoy a last morning game viewing drive en route to Seronera Airstrip for your light aircraft flight back to Arusha. The aerial views of the Serengeti from the air are breathtaking in their own right, offering a final wide-angle perspective of the landscapes you have journeyed through.

Upon landing at Arusha Airport, our representative will meet you and transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international flight home. ★★★★★

“Tarangire completely surprised me — the elephant herds were absolutely massive. Then Ngorongoro Crater took my breath away on Day 4. And just when I thought nothing could top it, the calving grounds at Ndutu were even more incredible. Wildflip’s guides are truly world-class.”

★★★★★

“I upgraded to Elite Wilderness and added the hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti — watching the sunrise from above while migration herds moved below was worth every penny. This trip changed me. I will be back for the river crossing in July without question.”
