Your safari begins at 8:00 AM with a pickup from your hotel in Arusha. With everyone aboard your 4×4 Land Cruiser, you'll head west towards the legendary Serengeti National Park — a 337 km drive covered in roughly 6 hours of beautiful, ever-changing scenery.
The Serengeti — meaning "endless plains" in the local Maa language — is a sight that puts every notion of distance to shame. Watching the grasslands stretch out as far as the eye can see, eventually merging with the sky at the horizon, is an absolutely breathtaking introduction to the wilderness. With an overall area of 14,763 sq km, the park houses the glorious Big Five (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard), alongside one of Africa's most beautiful animals — the impala.
The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa, and the central Seronera area is one of its richest wildlife habitats. The Seronera River provides a year-round water source, attracting wildlife representative of nearly every Serengeti species — most especially the celebrated lion prides that thrive here. Keep an eye out for the iconic Serengeti kopjes — massive granite boulders standing in a sea of grass, providing shelter for a remarkable variety of flora and fauna. Picnic lunch is enjoyed during the day-long game drive itself. The eventful day ends with a hearty dinner and a restful night in camp.
